Jumping Jacks Agility - Day 2

Another successful show! Our first class was the agility class. Millie did really well but unfortunately went over one I the jumps the wrong way so we got eliminated! She did well and she went over the Dog Walk and A- Frame for the first time! Our next class was the Open Junior Jumping. It was a really difficult course, 'hideous' someone called it! Millie was fantastic and we came 1st!

After this, we did the Introductory Jumping and got another Clear Round!

After this, Millie had a little sleep in the car!

Our last class was the Open Junior Helter Skelter. I didn't know when we were meant to walk the course so I missed it! We did the class after watching a few other dogs and Millie did another really good run, although she got distracted and went over another jump the wrong way, so unfortunately it was another elimination! She did the rest of the course brilliantly and if it hadn't been for that it would have been another clear round! 

Millie did amazingly well and had a really good time!

Jumping Jacks Agility - Day 1

Today we went to Jumping Jacks Agility! Sadly, it's the only agility show we were able to enter this year because we were busy or I missed the closing date!

Our first class was Open Junior Jumping. Millie ran over to Joe to start with but then came back and did a beautiful round. The same happened in the Introductory Jumping around the same course. After this, Joe and his dad stayed in the car for our next round, Introductory Steeplechase. Millie didn't do so well in this one as she went over the first 5 jumps then ran out the ring! However, she did come back without me having to go and get her and then did well afterwards. Our last class was Open Junior Steeplechase. I purposely didn't go so fast as I was more bothered about getting a clear round than her getting over excited and running out the ring! She did a fantastic clear round and I was really pleased with it! 

We're going again tomorrow so hopefully she'll do well then too!

Training for more Trick Dog Titles!

Yesterday we filmed a few more tricks for another trick dog award. Millie was very good and what I've done of the video so far looks good. 

In the evening, we went for Millie to have a run in the tennis field. She did lots of chasing about and really tired herself out! She wasn't too tired to chase a football some boys were kicking though!

Today we did some more of the tricks for the award. Despite being reluctant to start with, Millie quickly got back into it and we filmed two more exercises. Only two more to go now!

I also started to teach Joe how to ride a skateboard with two paws. He did well for his first attempt and his tail was wagging the whole time! Millie's tail was wagging too, she must have been pleased he was finding out the thrills of riding a skateboard!

Total Geek award

Millie passed the Dog Trick Geeks Total Geek award! We had to redo a few of the tricks (though I thought she did them all well the first time!) She was very good and managed to get the award anyway. 

Handstands!

As Millie's paw is better, we have been practising her handstands! She really enjoyed doing them and once she started there was no stopping her! With me supporting her, she even managed to walk a few steps! I think it's another one of her favourite tricks, as far as she's concerned, the harder, the better!

On the Mend!

Millie's paw's been much better today, she hasn't licked it once and wants to walk further, dragging me behind! 

We are still not doing Millie's more extreme tricks but as it seems much better and she wanted something to do, we filmed some tricks for the next Dog Trick Geek award. Millie did very well and he video is now submitted and we are waiting to hear back!

Millie's still got a bad paw

Millie's paw still hurts today. She is still licking it and when she jumps on the sofa is only landing on her right leg. She's been limping a little bit too. I'm not sure what it could be but it seems like a thorn may be stuck though I can't see or feel anything. We haven't done any training or much walking to try and make her rest it to see if it makes any difference. Hopefully it will be better soon as it's not nice to see it hurting her!

Millie's Poorly Paw!

The last couple of days, Millie keeps licking her paw! I don't know what she's done to it but it didn't seem to be bothering her until last night. Today, we were working on the handstand outside. Millie went up the ramp ok and then we tried going up the wall. Millie managed to do it! However, her paw must have hurt because she quickly got down and was very cautious about putting her paw there again. Obviously, we didn't do anymore. She's kept licking it so we will make her walks a bit shorter and not do too much of anything else so she rests it. Hopefully it will be better soon so we can get back to our normal walks and training - and keep working on the handstands!

Verticle!

We got the board verticle! We didn't start our training session with the board like that, but increased its steepness as Millie got more confident! She absolutely loved doing it and once she started, she wouldn't stop! She got down and then went straight back up again! The only way to get her to stop was to throw a treat on the floor in the other direction and tell her to 'go get it!' 

Hopefully with some more practise we won't need the board there any more and she will he able to do a hand stand against any old wall! Maybe she'll even be able to walk on her front legs! Even if she doesn't, it's still a very good trick and she's done really well to learn it!

On our walk at lunchtime, we went across the green where I let Millie have a run. Millie was running and sniffing around quite happily and then she saw a pigeon. She loves to chase pigeons. She ran full speed over to the pigeon and it didn't move. Once there, she realised it was dead! She jumped away from it and stood looking at me in complete shock!

After the trauma of the pigeon, she carried on running around!

The board is getting steeper!

We haven't been able to update for a few days!

Today we haven't done too much, just a bit more of Millie standing on her front legs. I have proped it against a door now so it's steeper than the stairs. Millie did very well and I'm sure it won't be too long before it's verticle!

Joe's Birthday Party!

Today we had Joe's Birthday party. His birthday is tomorrow but we had his party today. 

First they had their special dinner, kibble and turkey! They both loved it! 

After this they had the cake! We sang to Joe and then he blew out the candles (with some help!) 

They both loved it!

We then played some party games. We played 'find the treat', 'first to sit' and '3 tricks'! The doggies did very well in all the games and they were both awarded a trophy at the end!

More New Tricks! And a bit more...

We've been doing a bit more work on the paw crossing. 

Also, I've started to teach Millie another new trick, standing on her front legs! It will take time but she's done very well so far!

Even just today, we've managed to go up a stair!

On our walk at lunchtime, there was a man cutting the grass. As we walked past poor Millie got so scared of it she flew behind me and hit me in the back of the legs! I could feel it all the way up the road!

At tea time, Millie kept getting the food that was thrown for Joe! I threw Millie her bit, which she catched, then threw Joe his bit. He missed and then couldn't find it but Millie knew exactly where it was!

This evening we went blackberry picking. Millie, as ever, loved picking and catching the blackberries!

A bit more work on the new trick!

We haven't done too much today, though we did go for an extra walk this afternoon. Nowhere special, just where we usually go!

We've also been working on the paw crossing. She's a bit better than yesterday but a lot further to go yet! I'm sure she'll pick it up soon though, she does everything else!

Part way to learning a new trick!

Today I have been teaching Millie to cross her paws whilst. The idea is that she lies down and crosses one paw over the other. She did quite well and although she hasn't mastered it yet, I'm sure she soon will!

Trick and Agility Training

Today Millie and I have done quite a bit of training. We started by doing, and filming, a few tricks for the next Geek Award. We got a few but there are still more that need to be done! 

I set up and agility course in the back garden. We didn't over do it as it was quite hot but what we did Millie did very well. Especially since we haven't done it for a while!

We went also out the back and did some skateboarding! We did a little bit on the scooter but it was too bumpy for her - she tried her hardest! 

After this we had another run around our agility course!

After that we went on a long walk. It was nice and cool by then so we extended our walk a bit!

Saying hello to Chewit!

This morning I was cleaning out the hamsters. I odd Pebble, and Millie lied on the bed nicely and went to sleep. After Pebble, I did Chewit. Millie saw Chewit rolling around and decided to say hello to him. It was really sweet, they just stood there and sniffed each other!

A little bit of training, shoes and a sausage!

Millie and I did a bit of training today. We didn't set out to do it, but did a few tricks when I was holding a treat to get a shoe of Millie! She has run off with lots of shoes today, every time I got one off her, she got another!

She also got one of the sausages the is owed for getting her world record and doing well in the talent show!

Jumping!

Millie has been lying asleep most of the day!

However, this afternoon, we did some jumping in the garden. Millie was very eager! Also,she jumped over my back with me bending over but standing up for the first time!

Back to Training!

Millie hasn't done any training for a few days to recover from her holiday!

This afternoon we took the skateboard down the road. Millie wasn't too focused so could have done better but she did do well and managed to steer it a bit too!

This evening I got. Millie's newest trick on film, taking off a coat! This then lead to a whole training session where she did all her tricks with loads of energy! One time she was so eager to jump she completely missed what I said and jumped over nothing! Other than that she did really well!

Millie's Summer Holiday - Day 7

Today was the last day of Millie's holiday! We didn't do much as we were packing up and getting ready to go. However, she did have a walk through the nature reserve in the morning. I'm sure she'd rather stay there to run on the beach instead of come back here to walk around the roulads again but at least because of her we are coming back again in September!

Millie's Summer Holiday - Day 6

We went to the beach again this morning! Millie had a run and we carried her into the sea to see what she would do! She didn't like it and swam straight back out! She thoroughly enjoyed tearing up and down the beach and was very tired when we got back!
